There are a lot of places to grab a good cup of coffee in LA, but Maru is our gold standard. When we’re in town, we’re at their Arts District location more than we care to admit. Whether it’s the first stop of the day or a late-afternoon recharge, this place always hits.
We’ve been coming here for a few years, and it never gets old. The vibe is clean, calm, and thoughtful. Every detail, from the layout to the light, feels designed with intention. It’s the kind of place where you feel taken care of, even before your drink is in hand.
The coffee? Always amazing. Mornings usually start with a Hot Tea or Breve White, both rich, balanced, and so smooth they’re almost dangerous. In the evenings, it’s either an Espresso Tonic or a Cream Top, Maru’s signature drink, and one that’s developed a loyal following for good reason. That said, we’re also big fans of their beans at home. The roasts are clean, and consistent.

And while it’s tempting to gatekeep a place this good, the truth is it’s never not busy. Doesn’t matter what time you go. You just sort of lean into it. We’ve done grab-and-go. We’ve posted up and hung out. It’s part of our rhythm when we’re in LA.
Also, a shoutout to Juno, who always makes the space feel warm and familiar. It’s rare to find a team this consistently stellar. They’re fast, kind, and dialed-in, no matter how slammed it is behind the bar.
We haven’t made it to the espresso bar yet, but every Maru location we’ve been to has that same attention to detail and calm energy we love. But the Arts District spot is the one we keep coming back to.
